Dear Friends and Members of Pavilion,
It’s incredible how much can change in a year.
At the tail-end of 2021, we continued to view the effects of the pandemic as our biggest challenge. The Great Resignation, the war on talent, and the rapidly shifting WFH and hybrid workplace landscape forced our community to remain flexible and agile amid so much unpredictability.
Today, our focus has unquestionably shifted to preparing for what appears to be a year of economic uncertainty and the possibility of a recession.
Nonetheless, our community remains resilient and united as we face the challenges and opportunities of 2023 head-on.
I’m reminded of that moment from Apollo 13. Everyone is distraught. Someone says, “This could be the worst disaster NASA’s ever experienced.” Ed Harris as Gene Kranz replies, “With all due respect sir, I believe this will be our finest hour.”
And that’s what I think. That, as a community, we will rise to the challenge of the 2023 recession and economy and come together as executives, as leaders, to help our teams navigate this crisis, with confidence, with resolve, with grit, with grace.
Throughout the past year, Pavilion’s core mission to use community-powered learning to help our Members unlock their professional potential has remained as strong as ever. We’ve created new, advanced programs for executives and go-to-market leaders to share data and insights, learn best practices, and build relationships they can leverage to grow their businesses.
In 2022, we undertook the challenge of streamlining our offerings and delivering on a promise of exceptional experiences to enact fundamental changes in how we learn and share resources to drive future success.
Here’s a recap of what we accomplished in 2022 and a peek at where Pavilion is headed as we continue to raise the bar for community-powered learning.
After years of digital interactions, Pavilion was happy to return to in-person community building with our nine-city roadshow, Elevate. From Seattle to Atlanta, we connected with over 1,000 members via events that included innovative workshops, tactical tips, and networking opportunities to elevate their professional impact.
We treated Members to seminars featuring some of our most popular speakers, like Manny Medina, CEO at Outreach; Amanda Malko, CMO at G2; Udi Ledergor, CMO at Gong; and yours truly.
A resource for our members since 2020, Pavilion University continues to evolve and grow. Fresh off a year of over 12,000 enrollments, Pavilion U will feature dozens of new programs in 2023, in addition to our flagship C-suite Schools and access to over 50 foundational schools and courses.
Join our 10-week school for Chief Customer Officers, starting January 18, or our comprehensive Marketing School to learn how to improve your marketing skills and the core tenets of sales. See more of what our 2023 course catalog has to offer here.
Our live events program continued this November with our first CRO Summit. The sold-out, day-long intensive was a chance for our global community to unlock new approaches and learn about dynamic revenue tactics from high-growth executives who have “been there, done that.”.
Members heard from Cassie Young, General Partner at Primary Venture Partners, about the necessity of P&L fluency to succeed in the C-suite. Ashley Grech and Tim O’Neil shared new strategies to build enterprise teams. And a review of Pavilion’s recent pulse survey outlined important job market expectations for 2023.
Earlier this month, we were proud to launch our Core and Functional Groups, which give members a private space to brainstorm, strategize, and share resources with a curated group of executive peers. These moderated, tight-knit groups provide our members with a dynamic platform to deliberate and collaborate with peers to unlock and achieve new potential.
This year, we reinstated in-person Executive Salon Dinners—private, moderated discussions of 15-20 executives throughout North America, the UK, EMEA, and APAC. Nearly all dinners have sold out, and in 2023, we are bringing even more to our membership. We already have nine on the books for January and one in Sydney in February. You can check the dates and register here.
We’re also doubling down on in-person summits during 2023, providing our global network with exceptional executive events featuring expert-led learning sessions and innovative workshops to accelerate growth in the new year. We kick off the year with our CEO Summit on January 12 at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.
Our upcoming CMO Summit & CRO Summit are already accepting registrations, and our next major event, scheduled for October 2023, will go live soon. I can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.
As the year comes to a close, we have much to be thankful for at Pavilion. It’s an exciting time to be part of our global community of revenue and go-to-market leaders.
With 2023 already underway, our New Year’s resolution is to continue to deliver best-in-class programs and events to help our members grow and transform their businesses. We have something in the works that I know will be transformational for the Pavilion member experience, uniting all of the different pieces of Pavilion in one place to deliver a single, streamlined experience. I can’t wait for you to see it.
More important than our products or services, however, is our mission, Which is unwavering.
It’s great that Pavilion exists when times are good, when unemployment is low, when wages are on the rise, and when there are liquidity events left and right.
But Pavilion really exists for times like now. When the going gets tough. When companies like Salesforce are laying off 10% of their workforce. When you simply can’t afford to isolate. When you need the support of peers and colleagues to help you navigate fear and uncertainty with confidence and grace. That’s why we were originally created. That’s why we exist today.
And that’s what we want to be famous for.
For helping leaders achieve their professional goals and for helping you in a time of need.
Remember that everything we do, everything we build, every step we take is targeted at helping you live the life you want to live.
We aspire to be the essential resource for leaders and executives especially in times like now. I am personally committed to that mission and will be doing everything I can to help all of you as we all navigate 2023 together.
If you need anything please don’t hesitate to reach out.
